Forklift Accessories

by Amy Hall

Forklift accessories can include carpet poles, drum handlers, fork extensions, lift jibs, load back rests, pallet pullers, and man baskets with safety features. When you have a tough job to do, sometimes you will need added accessories to do it well and with the assurance of job safety. Safety features that will better protect workers from injury are always recommended, as forklift operation can be tricky at times.

A man basket should always be constructed with the most durable material, preferably steel. The use of a harness and lanyard should meet OSHA requirements, and the railings should be high enough to prevent any worker from falling over the sides. Always with any type of forklift work platform or basket, worker safety should be the top priority.

Forklift Accessories for Difficult Jobs

Sometimes it is necessary to make the investment for forklift accessories in order to perform certain tasks correctly and safely, as well as with less difficulty. Not all jobs are straightforward, and many require a good deal more skill due to increased difficulty. When you have the right accessories, than you can turn an incredibly difficult and time-consuming job into a one that is easier to carry out in much less time.

When any type of accessory is used with a forklift, it is essential that the operator of that machinery know exactly how to perform the task at hand using those tools. For instance, a forklift extension should not exceed a certain length, or it increases the chance that the forklift will tip over. Always check for specifications before using any accessories, as safety should always remain the number one priority.
