Golf In New OrleansThey may call it "The Big Easy" but golf in New Orleans is anything but! This is bayou country, so expect plenty of water to come into play on your round of golf in New Orleans. But novices are also accommodated by the several sets of tees on most of the courses to allow you a better chance of clearing the hazards. We will review a few of the better places to play golf in New Orleans for you on this page, which will cost you between $80 and $200. Featured Places to Play Golf in New OrleansOur first featured course in New Orleans is Eastover - Teeth of The Gator at The Golf Club of New Orleans. This course is often called the monster, with water coming into play on 12 of the 18 toughest holes in the state. Yet it is constantly rated as one of the best places to play golf in New Orleans and has hosted every state championship for amateurs, and is the state's qualifying home to the PGA Tour, US Open, US Amateur Open, US Senior Open, and US Mid Amateur. If you have the guts, this is the best place to play golf in New Orleans. Lee Schmitt tore a page out of the Pete Dye handbook when he designed Oak Harbor Golf Club's, par 72, charming, old "Deep South" inspired course. Here again, water will come into play on 12 holes and much of it will feature railroad tie bulkheads. Priced under $100, this course in New Orleans will only take you 6,258 yards from the regular tees or 6,885 from the back ones, but the water will challenge even the best of you. Jack Nicklaus must have had a mean streak in him when designed English Turn. Water will come into play on every hole! Featuring tiered greens surrounded by huge sand and waste bunkers, deep grass depressions, and mounds on the fairways, this par 72 course will humble even the best golfers. Ask any of the PGA Tour professionals which is the hardest hole on the tour and most will immediately tell you it's the eighteenth at English Turn. This course will and should keep the faint at heart far away. Some other recommended greens are the Money Hill Golf Club and TPC of Louisiana. ![]() Get all Golf articles via
