by Jill Morrison

A nursing job in New York allows you to experience the magic of New York city-life and to work in the wonderful profession of nursing. Nursing is a great profession to get into because jobs are currently plentiful and benefits have improved for nurses. Because of a shortage in nursing staff, there are many openings for nurses, pay and benefits have improved, and many hospitals offer signing bonuses as well.

Nursing Job in New York Options

Due to the shortage of nurses, new types of jobs have opened up. Most positions continue to be full-time and in one location. However, travel nursing allows nurses to travel to different locations for short assignments. Housing is free for nurses and these positions tend to pay well. A travel nursing job in New York will allow you to temporarily relocate and work in New York to see if you would like to live there permanently.

There are many different options when you are choosing a nursing job in New York. Jobs are available for RNs, LPNs, nurse practitioners, nursing assistants, camp nurses, travel nurses, and home health aides. You can choose to work in a hospital or clinic, or you can work at a camp or nursing home. The position you choose will depend on what interests you, your level of schooling, and your experience in nursing.

If you accept a New York nursing job, you can become a member of the New York State nurses Association (NYSNA). The NYSNA protects the rights of nurses in their working environment, with salaries, benefits, and high standards in healthcare.
