Bar Foot RailLike the bar arm rest, the bar foot rail is probably one of the essential pieces of bar furniture. After all, when a hard day's done, a man's got to rest his feet too! The interesting thing about bar foot rails is, you probably don't notice them much when you step into a local bar. However, when added to the bar in your own home, the bar foot rail is as eye-catching as the ballgame playing on TV. Whereas arm rests are usually wood or padded and covered with vinyl or leather, bar foot rails are usually metal, such as glowing polished brass, chrome or brushed stainless steel. You can also find wooden bar foot rails and paint or stain as needed to match your bar's finish. Bar foot rails come in a variety of lengths and thicknesses to fit your bar. Installing Your Bar Foot RailSome bar foot rails will come with the brackets needed to attach the rail to the bar itself. Make sure you have a bracket spaced every four feet of railing and at each end of the railing to prevent sagging or bending. For example, if you are installing eight feet of bar foot rail, you should have three brackets, one at each end and one in the middle. Again, as with the arm rests, always use wood screws. Lastly, you can choose from a variety of end caps to finish off your bar foot rails. These range from the simple to the ornamental and both serve to protect the inside and outside of the railing. Polishing your bar foot rail from time to time is also a good way to keep the bar looking clean and classy. ![]() Get all Bars articles via
