Memphis Dating

Written by Jeremy Horelick

The Memphis dating scene can be an exciting one, provided you know where to go and what to do. Apart from its reputation as a hub of outstanding music, Memphis offers an array of other cultural diversions, perfect for singles looking for things to do. The Memphis metro area is teeming with arts centers, playhouses, galleries, and other cool cultural assets.

Downtown Memphis is home to several important museums such as the Civil Rights Museum and the Rock and Roll Museum. It doesn't take a Ph.D to recognize the relationship between the two (even though they are separate entities). To this day, Memphis has an African-American population of nearly 40 percent. And, of course, many of the greatest contributions to country, jazz, blues, and rock--all of which are celebrated throughout Memphis--were made by black artists.

If You're New to the Memphis Dating Scene

If you're just making your first appearance on the Memphis dating scene (maybe you're a transplant, or perhaps you're recently single for the first time), you've got a dizzying list of options. One way to smooth the transition is to let your would-be date make the call. This not only relieves you of the burden of having to pick a great outing, it also gives you insight into your date's tastes and preferences.

That said, you can't go wrong in the Overton Park area or the University of Memphis arts facilities, both of which offer endless cultural and natural activities from blues concerts to bird-watching. Visit the local aquarium or zoo if you'd prefer. Sometimes taking lessons from the animals is a great way to help you find love.
