San Diego Dating

Written by Jeremy Horelick

The San Diego dating scene is one of the most culturally diverse in all of the United States. Apart from Manhattan, there is arguably no geographical spot in the country that brings together more different types of people than Southern California. This is due in large part to the intersection of American and Mexican culture, but is also a consequence of the area's climate, which draws natives from all about the globe.

If you've spent time in primarily white cities, San Diego will be a refreshing change of pace. For many in the San Diego dating community this is the region's greatest asset, for diversity means a wide array of cultural choices when looking for new things to do. Add to that the city's overt sponsorship of the arts, and you have a mature, cosmopolitan, international city that offers the best in music, art, nightlife, and dining.

Options for Those on the San Diego Dating Scene

A good place for newcomers to San Diego to start is the Gaslamp Quarter, which brings together the area's premier shopping, dining, and entertainment. The quarter is so named for the gaslamps that line its brick promenades, offering a charming setting for sightseeing, people-watching, or just hanging out. But the Gaslamp Quarter is also renowned for its fine art galleries and boutiques, many of which rival the best that neighbor Los Angeles has to offer.

If you don't find love along that corridor, there's always the world-famous San Diego Zoo, which boasts Pandas, Koalas, and other exotic wildlife. If your dating life seems like enough of a zoo without actually visiting one, opt instead for less crowded activities in and around Balboa Park. And if all else fails, head over to Qualcomm Stadium, where Padres tickets can still be had for a relative song.
