Tupac Screensavers

Written by Sarah Provost

Tupac screensavers, like his music, seem to have grown only more popular since his death nine years ago. More music has been released since his death than was ever released in his lifetime, and the recent documentary film Tupac: Resurrection has increased his celebrity even more. The charismatic actor and master of gangsta rap has left a legacy that lives on.

Tupac was born in Brooklyn to parents active in the Black Panther movement. He is named after Tupac Amaru, the last Inca killed by Spanish invaders. Raised in Oakland, he made his solo music debut in 1991 with 2Pacalypse Now. In the same year, he gained praise for his movie debut, Juice, and the next year co-starred with Janet Jackson in Poetic Justice.

Tupac Screensavers Memorialize an Artist Who Died Young

Despite his obvious talent, Tupac was a highly controversial figure, one of the most prominent and outspoken of the gangsta rappers. His lyrics seemed to promulgate cop killing and hatred of women, and soon he was having legal troubles. He spent time in jail on two occasions, a 15-day sentence for assault and battery and eight months for sexual assault. He was released pending appeal, and was shot and killed in Las Vegas after attending a Mike Tyson fight. He was a passenger at the time in the car of Marion "Suge" Knight, and conspiracy theories and rumors of East Coast/West Coast rap rivalries have kept the details of his death a mystery. He was 25 years old.

The number of Tupac screensavers available attests to his continuing presence in the minds of his fans. Tupac screensavers can be downloaded at many music sites, movie sites, and fan sites as well as at general screensaver sites. Tupac's music and legacy to rap music lives on, and you can help keep his memory alive with a screensaver as a tribute.
