by Nicholas Kamuda

Like many American convertible tops, the Chrysler Sebring convertible top comes in two parts. In many Chrysler Sebring convertible tops, the rear window is glass, but plastic replacements are also available.

American Sebring convertibles usually used sailcloth vinyl tops. Sailcloth is a lightly textured material that is has a look that more closely resembles fabric than pinpoint vinyl, and is available in a variety of colors for Sebring convertibles. It has all of the strengths of vinyl, including durability and an ease of cleaning not found in many canvas tops.

European Sebrings, however, used canvas in their convertible tops. Many replacement tops are made from Sonnendeck canvas, a strong canvas that replicates German Sonnenland canvas. The interior of Sonnendeck canvas Chrysler Sebring convertible tops has a layer of cotton woven into a Dobby pattern that is popular in many Mercedes and BMW interiors.
