US Open Golf Tickets

by James Lyons

US Open Golf Tickets put you in a position to witness sports history. This tournament is so rich in tradition and drama that most people, whether they enjoy golf or not, find the time to watch at least the final day. To see something like this live does wonders for the memory and rejuvenates the soul. For golf fans, US Open golf tickets give you the keys to a spiritual event.

On Oct. 4, 1895, the first U.S. Open Championship was held by the United States Golf Association on the nine-hole course of Newport Golf and Country Club. The first U.S. Open served as a sideshow to the first U.S. Amateur, which was played on the same course during the same week. Both championships had been scheduled for September but were pushed back because of a conflict with a more recognizable Newport sports event, the America's Cup yacht races.

Be a Part of History with US Open Golf Tickets

In 1954, the U.S. Open course was roped from tee to green for the first time because that was the first year it received national television coverage. In 1977, ABC Sports expanded the coverage of this legendary event and broadcast the final two rounds live. By 1982, ESPN began covering the first two rounds in addition to the other rounds. The popularity of this event has grown every year.

Like all professional sports, there is nothing like seeing it in person. So much of the drama is lost over the television and so much of the awe is diluted. Watching Tiger Woods blast a 330-yard drive in person is much more impressive than watching it on television. US Open golf tickets give you a chance to watch the superheroes of golf square off.
