Political Speakers

Political speakers are an excellent alternative to an entertainer or comedian at a private event or meeting. Since 9/11, Americans have grown increasingly aware of politics and the nation's place in the world. A quick glance at the non-fiction bestseller list shows to what extent this is true. The names at the top are a Who's-Who of political firebrands: Bob Woodward, Bill O'Reilly, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Karen Hughes.

Another staple at the top of the non-fiction bestseller list is one of the most sought-after political speakers of the day, Al Franken. A performer since second grade, Al Franken, with his partner Tom Davis, was part of the team that started "Saturday Night Live" in 1973. Franken grew up a Republican, like his father. But father and son changed party affiliation after the Barry Goldwater campaign's opposition to the principles of the civil rights movement. The Frankens were Democrats from then on.

Al Franken went on to become a well-known political satirist. Among his books are "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot," and "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them," which both skewer conservative media stars. In 2004, Franken began a run at a new kind of media stardom of his own, launching "The O'Franken Factor" on Air America Radio.

Political Speakers Inform and Unite

Even a clearly partisan speaker such as Al Franken can unite a divided room with wit and humor. Other political speakers, like Condoleeza Rice or Bob Woodward, are likely to bring a more sober tone. Speakers bureaus represent dozens of people of every political stripe available for private events.
