Voice Recognition
Voice Recognition ApplicationsVoice recognition applications can be extensive in a wide variety of environments. We've seen how they can make computer access faster and more efficient. We've also looked at more advanced applications where other devices like cell phones or global navigation systems can be controlled and accessed with vocal commands. Probably the most important voice recognition applications, however, involve giving those without the ability to do so function better. Voice Recognition Applications: Turning Problems into SolutionsThe sight impaired can now access and use a computer with voice recognition applications such as those offered by speech access and dictation technology. No longer does the computer screen need to be present to allow a person computer and Internet access. Voice commands can do all the work, and written documents can be read out loud with text to speech software. Voice recognition also serves as a valuable learning tool. Children and people unfamiliar with computers can more easily operate them with voice commands. Most good speech recognition applications are designed to recognize natural speech patterns and have a very easy learning curve. This is what allows such simplified computer access. With this, a person can learn about computers at a slower pace, without having to become an instant expert. Speech recognition can also teach people to read or learn new languages. By seeing words instantly transcribed into text, one can make important associations between what they are saying and what they are reading. This not only allows a person to develop reading skills, but can help someone to translate words from one language to another. ![]() Get all Voice articles via
