Chapel Hill Homes

by Helen Glenn Court

The variety of Chapel Hill homes that you and your realtor will find in your search for a house to call home might make choosing among them difficult. It will, however, almost ensure that you find your dream house in this idyllic area of central North Carolina. The immediate surroundings, as you will soon know if you do not already, offer three strong university towns.

One is the state capital. All are nestled in the gentle hills of the North Carolina Piedmont. All are within a reasonable drive of both the Appalachian Mountains, 190 miles to the west, and of the Outer Banks, 150 miles to the east. Among the accolades this Triangle area, which includes the Chapel Hill homes you're considering, has earned are Money magazine's designation as the number one place to live in the south.

Options among Chapel Hill Homes

Depending on your priorities, you'll develop preferences as you and your realtor consider the various neighborhoods in the Chapel Hill area. If you are younger with children, schools will be an important consideration, as will public transportation. If you are older or retired, maybe golf courses, fly fishing lakes and other cultural and leisure activities are more in your focus. All of this is good and all of this is available.

Three communities that come immediately to mind in any search for Chapel Hill homes are Southern Village, Governors Club and Meadowmont. But the older neighborhoods offer just as much. Chapel Hill transit is a strong network. Chapel Hill schools are first rate. Choosing should be a matter of style.
