Porsche 914 Parts

Porsche 914 parts are still available for the original small, mid-engine Porsche. The 914 was produced in the late 60s through a joint marketing partnership between Porsche and Volkswagen. The mandate of VW-Porsche was to build a great sports car out of VW components. The 914/4 and 914/6 were marketed in the United States as Porsche and were quite successful in sales and on the racetrack.

In fact, Porsche 914s are still racing in several series here in the states. Porsche designed a mid-engine layout and kept the weight down to create excellent handling characteristics. VW-sourced Porsche 914 parts made repairs and maintenance easier than for other very quick sports cars.

The Porsche 914 was a success due to its simple formula of tremendous "bang for the buck." The next Porsche to use a similar mid-engine, low-price (relatively speaking) formula would be the enormously successful Boxster which literally saved the company in the late 1990s. Porsche 914 parts were more widely available in the 1970s but 914 enthusiasts can still find all the parts they need through Porsche parts specialists.
