Aesthetic Skin Care CenterWhat can an aesthetic skin care center do for you? As the population ages, professional skin care, and especially anti-aging skin care, has become widely accepted, and no longer confined to movie stars and the rich. Even the smallest town is likely to have a dermatologist's office, a spa, or another kind of aesthetic skin care center to help with common skin problems and maintain healthy, youthful-looking skin. Treatments can range from a basic facial--steaming, cleansing, extraction, mask and moisturizer--to microdermabrasion, Botox, injectable fillers, chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing or acne surgery. Microdermabrasion is offered at almost any aesthetic skin care center, and has become nearly as common a procedure as a facial. In this treatment, tiny mineral crystals are aimed at the skin at high velocity. The crystals break up the layer of dead cells that lies on top of the epidermis. Then the crystals and debris are vacuumed away, revealing the healthier skin below. Wrinkle Treatments Available at an Aesthetic Skin Care CenterWith repeated treatments, microdermabrasion can reduce the appearance of fine lines, especially around the eyes and mouth. Deeper wrinkles can be reduced by chemical peels or laser resurfacing. Both of these techniques burn off the top layers of the skin, which softens lines. Injectable fillers can be used to fill very deep lines, such as those that run from the nose to the chin. Botox works by paralyzing the facial muscles that contract to create frown lines and crow's feet. All of these treatments are temporary, with results lasting from two months to several years. ![]() Get all Skin Care articles via
