Moisturizer and sunscreen are the primary anti-aging products for all ages and all skin types. It is estimated that 80 percent of all skin problems result from overexposure to ultraviolet rays. Everyone, no matter what climate they live in or how old they may be, should use a sunscreen at all times when outdoors, even on cloudy days.

Anti-Aging Products: Moisturizers

Many younger women who had oily skin as teenagers don't notice that it begins to dry out when they reach their twenties. Dry skin produces fine lines before you know it, so start using a moisturizer early and use it every day. There are so many creams and lotions out there, most of which tout some special anti-aging component such as fruit acids or alphahydroxy, that the choices can be overwhelming. Don't stress over it-you'll only get more lines. Any moisturizer will help keep new lines from forming and smooth out the appearance of those already there.

Exfoliating products, which scour away dead skin cells, are also a great help for aging skin. Over-the-counter scrubs have tiny granules in a creamy base. There are also prescription products such as Retin-A and Retinol, which act as a very mild chemical peel. These products make your skin extra-sensitive to UV rays, so be sure to wear ample sunscreen.
