Presentation Binding Systems

by Liza Hartung

When it comes to purchasing presentation binding systems, do a little research first. You are likely to discover that there are more options than you were aware of. Many of us have come across basic binding styles. We have seen spiral notebooks, coiled notebooks, reports with cloth covers, and the binding that we see on soft-cover books. All of these are very viable binding techniques.

However, within each style there is quite a range of systems you can purchase. The very basic ones are obviously the most affordable. However, they can usually only handle a few pages at a time and only one document at a time. For those in need of faster presentation binding systems, just know that you will be spending more money. When it comes to presentation binding systems, you definitely get what you pay for.

Cost of Presentation Binding Systems

Here is an example of the price range you are looking at with a thermal binding system. Thermal binding uses hot glue. It is fast and uncomplicated. Your document is put into a cover with an adhesive spine. That then gets put into a thermal binder, which presses on your cover while heating the spine. The resulting fused document is durable and long-lasting. You can even use different materials, such as linen cloth, for your covers.

Basic thermal presentation binding machines will go for around $150, more or less. Something like this can do about 200 sheets at a time. This may be too slow for certain uses, however. Therefore, you may want to look into a machine that can do 200 one-inch books in an hour. Something like this will cost about $2500. That's quite a jump in price, but it's also quite a jump in quality and efficiency.
