Hilton Head Seaside Villas

by Helen Glenn Court

Your choice for vacation lodging might come down to Hilton Head seaside villas or others that overlook lush fairways, wetlands, or a harbor marina. The island's 12 miles of wide sandy beaches may be what attracted you to vacation here. If so, you'll probably want to walk the beach as much as possible.

Looking out over grassy sand dunes to the Atlantic first thing in the morning, with a steaming cup of freshly brewed coffee, defines the escape and relaxation you hope to enjoy. You toy with the idea of para-sailing, because you've learned that's an option. What you do know is that on a clear night or a rainy one, you want to hear the ocean surf pounding on the beach.

What Hilton Head Seaside Villas Have to Offer

All beaches on Hilton Head are public up to the high water mark. Access to them, however, is sometimes private. The town does have five public access beaches. These are Alder Lane, Coligny, Driessen, Folly Field, and Islanders. The last four of these are beach parks, with showers, restrooms, and changing areas. You might prefer something less crowded. If so, Hilton Head seaside villas are probably ideal for you.

The island's official beach season begins on April 1 and ends on September 30. Lifeguards are stationed at each of the designated swimming areas from 8 am in the morning until the afternoon. If you're not lucky enough to be vacationing at Hilton Head seaside villas, you'll be parking at one of the five public beaches. Some of these have metered parking, and some long-term parking passes. The only option at Islanders Beach, for example, is a long-term parking pass. The only options at Alder Lane are metered spaces.
