Basic Business Plans

by James Lyons

Basic business plans are an illusion. There is nothing basic about a business plan. They usually aren't complicated. In fact, effective ones are very clear and easily understandable. The process of putting together a business plan, however, is anything but basic. It requires attention to detail, research, patience, and a great deal of expertise. Very few basic things have such requirements.

With that in mind, why are so many people writing their own business plans? Well, why do so many businesses fail in the first year? Why do so many people never raise the capital to open their own business? They either write their own business plans or try to start a business without one. Would you try to build a house without a blueprint? Would you go to war without a plan?

You Can Buy Basic Business Plans

What's keeping people from simply buying basic business plans? Several different functions are outsourced by companies. Specialization is the name of the game. Companies are created to satisfy a certain niche. That's because people have very specific tastes. Very specific companies provide very specific services for other companies. Recruiting firms exist that specialize in technical recruiting and others specialize in human resources professionals.

Some businesses make it their business to write basic business plans. Again, basic is hardly the right word to describe any business plan, but these companies are so good that it's pretty basic for them. The savvy business owners drop their pride and recognize the power of specialization. When it comes to writing a business plan, there's no substitute for great work.
