Before you make a final decision, read the fine print of the contract terms. Check to see if there's a penalty if you decide to switch vendors before the contract expires. There usually is.

You'll be faced with various combinations of choices--so many minutes of prime time calling for so many dollars a month, with or without long distance included, and so on. A third category is the choice of the telephone itself--do you want a flip-phone, text messaging, camera, email, or paging? You'll find that the time you take searching these differences and more is well spent. Be wary of offers that seem to be too good to be true.
