Cell Phones - Pagers and Cellphone Service
Verizon Cell PhonesHow many people in this country, do you suppose, have not seen the commercials for Verizon cell phones and Verizon wireless service? Stage left: man walks through landscape (city, countryside, town, national park), bent slightly forward, talking on a cell phone held to his ear, stops suddenly, and says "I can hear you now." Action repeats. It's catchy and the name Verizon is catchy--horizon, verizon, coast to coast service. With 40 million customers, 150 switching centers, and the first national high-speed data network, it's no wonder that Verizon wireless and Verizon cell phones are seemingly everywhere. Service plans are comprehensive, and include both monthly billing and prepaid cards. Manufacturers of Verizon cell phones include Kyocera, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, AirPrime, Blackberry, and PalmOne. Return policy on both equipment and service is flexible if it's within 15 days of purchase and contract. If it's not, however, or if you stop service and don't return the phone, the penalty is $175. That figure is close to an industry standard. The Perks of Verizon Cell Phones and ServiceThe real bonus of many of Verizon's plans is the unlimited in-network calling. Anyone can appreciate that. What's most interesting, though, is the number and variety of plans that include wireless Internet access. A year ago there was only one of these. The sales bait--and catch, because this is "food"--to all of the Internet options is the flexibility you have with them. The commitment you make is to Verizon wireless service, not to Internet access you won't necessarily be using. For example, as a Verizon customer, you can take out Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) on a monthly or daily basis. ![]() Get all Cell Phones articles via
