Energy Saving Light Bulbs

by Ingrid Chen

Using energy saving light bulbs can drastically reduce the pain of finding that your electricity bill surpasses your budget. With so many electrical gadgets in the house, how is it possible to reduce the cost of that bill? Environmental conservation is also a matter of importance amongst residents nowadays, with our earth being in danger of major resource depletion.

Energy Saving Light Bulbs May Be the Answer

In reducing that bill or saving our precious resources, one thing to consider is your use of lighting in your home or business. Keeping those lights on uses up major amounts of energy. Though we should all be aware of turning off those lights when we don't need them, if it is absolutely essential to keep those lights on, energy saving light bulbs may be the answer.

In the 1980s, energy saving bulbs began their rise to popularity. They cost more per bulb than a regular bulb with the same shape and wattage, but they last between 5 to 10 times longer, if not more, than the cheaper bulbs. Recent developments have also made it possible to find energy saving light bulbs that provide the same shade of color as normal bulbs, and power up faster than they originally did. Until recently it was difficult to find energy saving light bulbs that could replace the bulbs you already had.

Looking for energy saving ballasts is a good place to start your journey on the way to lower costs and a healthier environment. Ballasts control the voltage of the light bulb, and it makes sense to have an energy saving device controlling the output of your lights. These can be found in stores that specialize in light bulbs.
