Light Bulbs
Decorative Light BulbsSometimes light bulbs aren't just for lighting up a space: Light bulbs may be the center of attention, such as in a chandelier or other ceiling light, and finding those perfect decorative light bulbs to accent your home or office is key to an attractive and comfortable living or working space. Different colors, shapes and amount of light output all affect the surrounding atmosphere, more so than many of us realize. Therefore it is important to take a look at options available for decorative light bulbs. Decorative Light Bulbs Can Be Found in Several TypesCommon shapes of decorative light bulbs are flame shaped and globe shaped. Flame shaped bulbs, as its name may suggest, are used universally to create the look of a burning wick in a light fixture designed to resemble one or many candles. These lights can be seen especially during the winter holidays, with Hanukkah menorahs showing brightly on windowsills, or single "candles" decorating the Christmas tree. One may choose to use a flame-shaped bulb in place of a real candle for several reasons. They outlast candles many times over, are less messy than dripping candle wax, and are much safer, especially when left lit overnight or while out of the house. They range from 15 to 60 watts, as it isn't necessary to have a high-wattage bulb, because low-output bulbs replicate closer the look of candle flames. Globe-shaped decorative light bulbs may be found in many places. Their nicely rounded shape and gentle light output makes the globe shaped bulb a wise choice in decorative lighting. They can be found at 15 watts, for spaces needing gentle lighting, up to 150 watts, for situations that require bright light, such as the vanity strips that line mirrors. Consider using decorative lighting as a bright alternative to the typical light bulb. ![]() Get all Home Lighting articles via
