Metal Halide Bulbs

by Ingrid Chen

If gardening is your passion, metal halide bulbs may be the tools you need to grow those seasonal plants all year round. Take a look at the tools you'll need to make the best indoor garden or greenhouse, specifically the light you'll need to create photosynthesis and healthy growth of your plants. For most indoor gardeners, metal halide bulbs, a form of high intensity discharge (HID) lighting, is the way to go.

Though metal halide bulbs were not created specifically for indoor garden use, they are the type most often recommended by gardeners for indoor plants, because of their broad spectral output. They replicate natural sunlight more closely than fluorescent lights, and therefore plants will experience photosynthesis at a greater rate, making healthier and more productive plant growth.

Metal halide bulbs emit a great amount of light with a lower energy output than regular lights. In comparison to other conventional lights, metal halide lights burn more efficiently and therefore save energy and eventually lighting cost. Over time, their output is reduced at a more gradual rate than other regular or HID lighting,

Metal Halide Bulbs: Natural Light for any Environment

Not only is HID lighting found in gardens; metal halide bulbs are also commonly found in aquarium ecosystems. Just like with plants, natural light is vital to a healthy aquarium living environment, and these special metal light bulbs can replicate that light. The artificial worlds that we create for our plants and animals deserve to have the best light source available, and one of the best options is metal halide lighting.
