Product Liability Lawsuits

by Kathleen Gagne

There is usually a court backlog of product liability lawsuits. If you consider the huge number of products manufactured and sold every day by both domestic and foreign manufacturers, you can understand that the incidence of product defects is also high. Whether the issue is related to design or manufacturing processes, the results can be both costly and tragic.

Product Liability Lawsuits and You

When you or a member of your family have suffered a serious, life-changing injury or death, your whole world seems to be in turmoil. It may take some time before you even realize that a defective product or one that came with insufficient information regarding safety issues is the cause of the problem. You may think that no one will listen, and you might believe that you have no recourse.

You should know that product liability attorneys often offer a free consultation at which you can describe the incident. They can then tell you whether or not you have a strong enough case to pursue in court. One thing to remember is that, if you contact one lawyer and they tell you your case is not solid enough, you can still try another lawyer. Remember that only you know the extent of your suffering or loss, and only you can decide how much it means to you to follow through.

Product Liability Lawsuits and the Courts

It is up to you and your attorney to prove that a product was defective and whether the manufacturer knew that there could be problems associated with its use. Product liability lawsuits can be difficult to win, but, if you have a valid claim, the right attorney, and a sincere desire to prevent the same injury to others, it is well worth the effort. It may take some time, but remember that your action can make a difference.
