Product Liability Claims

by Kathleen Gagne

Product liability claims can be based on a wide range of injuries to consumers. For example, pharmaceutical products that have deleterious side effects or cause death have received extensive publicity. Automobile safety issues are critical and have resulted in major changes in the industry and in the laws that govern aspects of automobile manufacture. Toys and other products used for very young children, including car seats, cribs, carriers, spoons, and more have also been cited in numerous cases.

Making Product Liability Claims

If you believe that you or a family member has suffered serious injury or death as the result of a defective product, you can make one or more product liability claims regarding the incident. The first step is to gather as much information as you can about the incident, including the product itself, documentation that came with the product, and written or taped eyewitness accounts. Medical records are, of course, critically important as well.

All of these steps should be taken as soon as possible after the incident in order to provide the best opportunity for accuracy and credibility. Once you're ready, you will need to contact a product liability attorney. Be sure to find one who has extensive experience, and, if that experience is with the same product or a similar one, that is even better.

Find an Attorney Online

You can find great product liability attorneys on the Internet. In some cases, these attorneys operate in multiple states, so don't let their home location deter you. If you know a good attorney in your local area, she may be able to help you find the right product liability attorney for your case. Product liability claims can take some time to get through the courts, but, if they are valid and well argued, what happens in your case may well protect other innocent families.
