California Immigration Attorneys

by Patricia Tunstall

California immigration attorneys are educated and trained in a specialized area of law that is particularly in demand in the state. This land of abundance has been home to native Indians and Californios from Mexico; both groups left their place names on streets, cities, and landforms that remain today. With its lengthy coastline facing the huge expanse of the Pacific Ocean, California has also become home to millions of Asians fleeing the wars and poverty of their native lands in the 20th century.

Given its strategic location, with a border shared with Mexico and a shore open to the ocean, it is not surprising that modern California is such a mix of cultures, languages, and religions. California immigration attorneys have been kept busy sorting out the various laws that apply to specific nationalities and ethnic groups. The former Immigration and Naturalization Service, like any enormous bureaucracy, took specialists to navigate its forms, deadlines, and procedures.

California Immigration Attorneys Have Expertise

Perhaps an individual could successfully guide an application through the maze of regulations and requirements of today's United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), but how much easier it would be to let California immigration attorneys take care of the process. These are knowledgeable experts who know an applicant's rights and are familiar with the forms and prerequisites for visas, residency or naturalization. Knowing the ins-and-outs of the USCIS is invaluable, for it is too easy for a novice to make mistakes that sometimes have permanent consequences.

After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the federal government tightened security and the scrutiny given to visa applicants. New forms were required, new steps in the process were installed, and the length of time for processing applications was extended. More than ever, immigration attorneys can be essential to a successful conclusion for an application for temporary or immigration visas.
