Deposit Tickets

Deposit tickets are the forms that you use when making a deposit to your bank account. Preprinted deposit tickets come standard with any order of checks, or your bank may have blank ones where you can fill in your account number, name, and the date before presenting your deposit to the teller.

Completing Blank Deposit Tickets

When you make deposits, make sure to write your account number on the deposit tickets clearly before you hand it in. This way, it will go into your account and not somebody else's by accident! Also date it, show the total amount of cash (including coins) and checks that are going in. If you need to enter additional checks, there is usually room for this on the back of the ticket.

If you order checks directly from a check printer, instead of through your bank, be sure that your deposit slips have the proper amount of parts to them, or else order extras. For example, some banks use duplicate or triplicate forms for their deposit slips, and you won't get a receipt unless you include all copies. So if your check printer doesn't offer these, you will need to fill out two or three tickets with each deposit, so your teller has the amount of tickets he or she needs.

If you are receiving cash back from a check you are depositing, make sure to reflect this on the ticket. The net deposit is the total that is actually being deposited into your account after you receive your amount back. For example, if you were depositing a $100 check and want $10 back from it, your net deposit would be $90.
