Magnets - Industrial, Rare Earth and Neodymium

Super Magnets

by Stacy Chbosky

Rare earth magnets, like Neodumium Iron Boron magnets, are sometimes referred to as super magnets. "Super magnets" is a fitting name, because rare earth magnets are significantly more powerful than the magnets one would use to, say, display photos on a refrigerator. Neodymium Iron Boron magnets, or NIBs, are incredibly strong magnets that can be used for industrial, artistic, and scientific purposes.

Creating Sculptures with Super Magnets

One of the most fun things you can do with super magnets is to create a sculpture! We've all seen those "executive gift" magnet sculptures. Now you can create your own.

You can also create an item that's meant to permanently stay in a particular shape. If you are a dog lover, you might want to use magnets to create a little puppy sculpture, for instance. Super magnets come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, including cubes, plates, blocks, rods, rings, and tubes. The variety of shapes allows for a variety of sculptures.

NIBs even come in shapes punctured with holes. This gives you greater freedom in creating arts and crafts projects. Of course, a super magnet is more often used in industrial purposes than in artistic purposes. However you choose to use your super magnet, you should know that it's a very powerful magnet, not intended to be played with by unsupervised children.
