Poster Art
Art Deco PostersArt deco posters are a great solution for the true art deco fan. Most of us can't afford original art deco works, so it's great that we can buy a cheap poster online that will provide us with art that we really want to look at. Finding art deco posters can also be quite easy--many websites specialize in this type of poster. How Art Deco Posters Came to BeWithout the art deco movement, there never would have been art deco posters. In this frightening scenario, we'd all be stuck hanging cubist posters on our walls, or even worse: posters of flowers and kitty cats. But luckily we avoided that fate, so let's take a look at the history of the groundbreaking art deco movement. The term "art deco" came from a 1925 exposition in Paris with the hefty name "L'Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs Industriels et Modernes." If ever there was a name begging for abbreviation, this was it. The exposition was intended to celebrate life in the modern world, and it had the unintended effect of creating a new genre of art. Art deco was a movement of the '20s and '30s that was a derivative of many different early 20th century styles, such as cubism, futurism, and constructivism. Its main characteristics were simplification and abstraction teamed with geometric shapes and intense, bright colors. The intent of this style was to celebrate all things technological and modern. ![]() Get all Posters articles via
