Homes For Sale In Dallas OregonIf you're looking for a house in historic Willamette Valley, you certainly want to look at homes for sale in Dallas, Oregon. Just 20 miles due west of Salem over the Polk County line on Route 223, the city was established in the 1850s, soon after the first settlers came through the Oregon Trail into the valley. As the Polk County seat, the city has grown in part to accommodate the county. Homes for sale in Dallas stretch on an east-west grid along Rickreall Creek. The original Polk County court house was a wooden building completed in 1851. The larger building that replaced it in 1859--said to be modeled after the capitol in Richmond, Virginia--burnt to the ground overnight on June 10, 1889. Today's courthouse, completed in 1898, was built of local sandstone by Portland architect Delos Neer, who also designed for Benton, Lane, and Baker Counties.
