Participating in a Search for Actors

If you choose to participate in a search for actors, you should be adequately prepared to show your abilities. You will want to have a comedic monologue and a serious monologue prepared, even though some auditions may not call for a monologue reading. You should always be prepared by carrying a few pictures and resumes with you for every audition or acting experience.

If you have other talents in addition to acting, you should be prepared to demonstrate those as well. If you are a dancer, you should take dance classes frequently to stay in shape and you should bring dance shoes and attire to auditions. If you are a singer, you should have a ballad and an up tempo song that you could perform at any time. Make sure to bring your sheet music to every audition where singing is involved.

When you participate in a search for actors, you may not have to attend an audition. The search may be judged by the quality of your portfolio instead. You can include pictures, sound clips, video clips, and information about yourself in a portfolio. You can also post your portfolio online for exposure and to participate in certain actor searches.
