Mauna Lani Golf Courses

The two Mauna Lani golf courses are called the North and South Courses. These greens are some of the most popular and famous of all the Hawaiian golf courses. By the standards of some of the world's great courses they are relatively young. Both were created in 1981, when an existing course was split in two and both turned into regulation 18-hole courses. The Mauna Lani Golf Courses of the Big Island

Located on the Kohala Coast, the Mauna Lani courses have their own distinct personalities. The North Course was built on a braided lava flow called pahoehoe, which has a peculiar look similar to twisted taffy.
