Find A Loft In Boston

by Tara Peris

Recent urban renewal initiatives have made it easier than ever to find a loft in Boston. For those eager to immerse themselves in the bustle of big city life, few housing arrangements can compete with loft living. Moreover, with efforts to restore neighborhoods such as East Boston and the Back Bay well underway, there exist an array of attractive and reasonably priced offerings.

Lofts were once the sole domain of artists and designers, who relied on open architectural design to showcase their work. These days, however, young professionals of every variety are clamoring to get into these trendy downtown domiciles. Their sleek, contemporary designs have renewed aesthetic appeal and their prime locations offer easy access to the trappings of big city life.

Loft Design

For those who are intent on living in the heart of the city, lofts are an ideal housing option because they use space wisely. High ceilings and loosely structured open spaces make small habitats feel roomy and fresh. Thus, with a little creativity, it is easy to live comfortably without breaking the bank.

Before you buy a loft, however, there are a few things to consider. Most lofts require some work to be habitable, and you'll want to think about the costs of construction and interior design. You'll also want to learn about the difference between cooperative and condominium lofts and choose according to the contractual arrangement that better meets your needs.
