Wireless Remote ControlsThe concept of wireless remote controls for use in industry is a comparatively new science: as little as fifty years ago, it was nothing more than a loose concept. Now we have several different categories of remote controls for industrial use. These include rugged remote control, for cranes and heavy machinery, and more complex wireless remote controls for other types of industrial tasks. Rugged Wireless Remote ControlsWhile rugged accurately describes the resilience of the tough wireless remote control units that control cranes and other heavy machinery, it hardly gives one an indication of the sophisticated electrical and wireless components that go to make up these nifty little devices. It seems hard to imagine that they can control huge machines thousands of times bigger than themselves with little more than the flick of a switch or press of a button. What's more, they can each offer dozens of different frequencies for the efficient execution of any number of maneuvers and several different pieces of heavy machinery. Their error-free operation is teamed with programming options that are powerful enough to give you any number of specific operations. Many of them can, in fact, be programmed from a wireless laptop, giving even more mobility to industrial operations. The type of wireless remote controls used for heavy machinery, also referred to as rugged remote control, is usually handheld and consists of buttons or a joystick configuration to give the widest possible range of movement for machinery. Then there are wireless remote controls for industrial processes and research monitoring and the like. There are even types of remote control for such machinery as lifts and escalators. Many of today's industrial tasks are actually carried out by robots driven by remote control. These use embedded systems that can be programmed for very complex tasks. ![]() Get all Remote Control articles via
