Seattle Washington Real Estate
Edmonds Real EstateConveniently located just 18 miles north of Seattle, Edmonds real estate might be just what you're looking for in the Puget Sound area. You won't get much of a suntan if you settle here, but you know that already. Washington is the evergreen state, not the sunshine state. It may get no more rain than many others, but its sunshine quota is admittedly a low 55 days out of 365. Now that I've dispensed with the bad news, let's look at some of the many positive attributes of Edmonds real estate. Edmonds Real Estate: Fun, Games, and BackgroundThe Seattle area is already known as the home of espresso and Starbucks coffee and for the many microbreweries that arose there in the 1990s. Puget Sound is probably less well known as one of Washington's preeminent wine regions, and boasts some 25 vineyards. Among them are Hoodsport (a gold medal winner in France for its 1994 Sauvignon Cabernet), Columbia Crest (a 10-year Best Buy winner), Snoqualmie, and Chateau Ste. Michelle. Ruggedly beautiful, the Pacific Northwest is renowned as an outdoorsman's heaven. Whether you like whitewater rafting, skiing, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, or biking, you'll find it all within easy reach of the Edmonds real estate you'll soon be calling home. If golf or tennis is more to your liking, the area is just as inviting--with some 50 public and private golf courses and the Puget Sound Tour inviting novices and life-long players alike. "The friendliest town on the Puget Sound," the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce proudly introduces itself. Originally--in 1876--the homestead of one George Bartlett, Edmonds turned to industry--logging--rather quickly. This continued after the town was incorporated in 1890 and the Great Northern Railroad came through in 1891, morphing over the years into shingle manufacturing, and holding steady through the 1940s. After the war, it evolved back into a primarily residential area, which you'll never regret investing in. ![]() Get all Washington Real Estate articles via
