Originally--in 1876--the homestead of one George Bartlett, Edmonds turned to industry--logging--rather quickly. This continued after the town was incorporated in 1890 and the Great Northern Railroad came through in 1891, morphing over the years into shingle manufacturing, and holding steady through the 1940s. After the war, it evolved back into a primarily residential area, which you'll never regret investing in.
