Seattle Washington Real Estate
Kent Real EstateLocated midway between Seattle and Tacoma on the Puget Sound, Kent real estate is a wonderfully convenient place to settle. The first settlers lingered there more for the fertile soils of the valley. By the time Kent incorporated in 1890 (only the second city in King County to do so), hop farming was well established, truck farming just around the corner, and Kent's national renown as the lettuce capital of the nation 30 years away. Today, the setting is considerably more urban, with SeaTac International Airport just seven miles away. Both Seattle and Tacoma are an easy commute, just over 18 miles north and nearly 19 miles south along Interstate 5, respectively. Kent real estate also lies within a decent commute distance to Washington's capital city of Olympia. Interstate 90, which crosses the state east-west, is about 20 miles north. As far as enjoying the natural beauties of the Pacific Northwest, you'll find Kent real estate particularly well situated. Within an hour or so are Olympia National Park, the Pacific coastline, Mount Rainier, Emerald Downs, the Snoqualmie Falls ski areas, and the Des Moines marina on Puget Sound. You really can't beat life in the Puget Sound and Cascades foothills, there's no question of that! A Few Numbers on Kent Real EstateUpdated figures from the last federal census put Kent's population at just over 80,000 and the median home value at about $180,000. The number of residential dwellings figured at about 35,000, most of which are traditional single-family homes. The most recent actual market indicators put the average selling price at closer to $300,000. Making the most of the expertise of a local realtor is always a good idea. ![]() Get all Washington Real Estate articles via
