Officially, Mesa is one of the largest cities in Arizona, with a population that is close behind Tucson. The proximity of Mesa Arizona real estate to land in Phoenix, along with many of the city's other attributes, make it popular among transplants and many young couples.

Mesa, like many of the cities around Phoenix, has recently experienced a growth spurt. In the mid-1990s, the population jumped over 19 percent, putting Mesa next to the top 50 largest cities in the country. As the city continues to grow, businesses are looking forward to building a strong economic future.

Compared to other areas around Phoenix, Mesa Arizona real estate is both ample and affordable. The median home cost is relatively low, at a modest 86,000 dollars, compared to 140,000 dollars for the majority of the rest of the Valley. The median age of homeowners is a young 30 years, indicating a large population of professional men and women in the metropolitan area.

Mesa's convenience and strong industrial presence continue to influence the city's popularity. A few of Fortune's top 500 companies reside in Mesa, and the city's plentiful shopping areas attract consumers from all over the region. Mesa also has many strong cultural centers, including youth museums and history museums that delve into the area's 1,000-year history.
