Electric Fireplaces
Free Standing Electric StovesFree standing electric stoves have a bit of a repetitive name: the only true free standing stoves have to be electric. Wood- or gas-burning stoves don't stand freely because they have to be connected to a ventilation system to get their toxic fumes outside. But free standing electric stoves don't have to worry about vents: they only discharge light and heat. Free Standing Electric Stoves Heat up Any RoomHere's the beauty about being free standing: you can stand anywhere. Anywhere with a standard 120-volt plug, that is. While a stovepipe stove is immobile--stuck where it's been for years--your electric stove can unplug and relocate to wherever you need some heat: a basement, den, living room, guest bedroom. And with an extension cord, you could even take it outside, but then Dad would yell at you for heating up the whole neighborhood. Upgrading to free standing electric stoves is like switching from a corded rotary phone to a cordless one: you're not bound to any location, and you'll enjoy other technological improvements. For instance, you can adjust the heat level of electric stoves (and fireplaces, for that matter) with a flip of a switch; they can crank out some BTUs or just give off the glow of burning embers without any of the heat. And here's another advantage: the "flames" and "logs" look like the real thing, but are really well-designed imposters. You'll never get burned or smoked out from the fire, or dirty from hauling in firewood. An electric free standing stove has the great feel of traditional stoves, but none of the inconveniences or drawbacks. ![]() Get all Fireplaces articles via
