Pukalani Real EstateDon't Like the Weather? Drive a Few MilesUpcountry Maui real estate lies on the upslopes of the earth's largest dormant volcano--Haleakala. Over 10,000 feet high, Haleakala dominates Maui, and constitutes the entire east end of the island. Along with the northeast trade winds, this volcano creates micro-climates all around its upslopes. Kula, for instance, is on the leeward, or western side of the volcano. With the winds blocked, Kula tends to have drier weather than some other Upcountry areas. Makawao often receives 75 inches of rainfall because of its location on the north slopes of Haleakala, which face into the trade winds. Pukalani, which means "heavenly gate," is between Kula and Makawao, and receives only about 22 inches of rain a year. Spectacular Views from Pukalani Real EstateLike other Upcountry areas, Pukalani real estate offers beautiful ocean views. The town itself grew as downcountry people discovered the temperate climate and slower pace. Pukalani has strip malls, fast food, and gas stations. It also has condominium complexes, the Pukalani Country Club, and the Pukalani Golf Course. A new bypass highway takes travelers directly from downcountry to Kula, leaving the old highway to local Pukalani traffic. Some people interested in Pukalani real estate might find this development a plus, since fewer travelers often means a quieter, slower atmosphere. Condos, vacant land, and residential parcels are available in the area. Maui real estate agents can help you with your search for a suitable parcel of Pukalani real estate. ![]() Get all Hawaii Real Estate articles via
