Haiku Real EstateCountry LifestyleHaiku was a pineapple plantation village, and it remains a small, slow-paced town. Strategically placed, Haiku real estate includes the sprawling lands around the north side of Upcountry, and the downslope areas that reach North Shore. Less developed than some other regions of Maui, Haiku would be a choice spot to consider for vacant parcels of land. Quieter than the resort coast, Haiku nevertheless offers spectacular views of the ocean, and is about a 10-minute drive from the beach. Situated on the North Shore, the lush vegetation of Haiku is the result of the frequent rain showers brought ashore by the northeasterly trade winds. The more Upcountry areas of Haiku resemble rainforests, and have humid, cool air. Haiku Real Estate for PeacefulnessThis old pineapple center of Maui is not too far from Paia, which means "noisy." Paia was a bustling sugar town that now consists of colorfully-painted boutiques. Both towns are near Hookipa Bay, home to windsurfing championships. Haiku real estate is near many prime water sport beaches, but it is also a world apart. Haiku is a maze of windy roads and hilly terrain. As in Upcountry, the land here is mostly zoned agricultural, so farm animals are permitted. In addition to vacant parcels, there are some two-lot subdivisions, and small residential areas. Find a Maui real estate agent who is familiar with this special place. Haiku real estate requires the expertise of agents who know the area well. ![]() Get all Hawaii Real Estate articles via
