King Kamehameha made Lahaina his capital--of all Hawaii--in the early 1800s. At that time, the town was filled with boisterous whalers who wanted to have a good time on shore. Lahaina still is a party town, with a lively nightlife.

There's much more, however, for Lahaina has lots of historical tours, museums, and walking tours to share. Front Street is famous for its beach scene, with many art galleries, clothing stores, and historic landmarks that have been meticulously restored.

Lahaina vacation homes are among the most beautiful in West Maui real estate. Lahaina and Napili real estate contrast nicely with the upscale and expensive property at Kapalua and Kaanapali resorts. True, Lahaina vacation homes include condos right on the water that sell for millions, but there are also condos that start around $100,000.

Lahaina vacation homes include a mix of older homes and new construction. West Maui, especially, is a prime destination for tourists who want a second home. In the older areas of this region, such as, Lahaina, housing is not only relatively inexpensive, but is set near beautiful beaches and bays that are focal points for water activities.
