Cedar SaunasWritten by Michael Federico Cedar saunas can bring an element of aromatherapy to an already relaxing experience. The scent of cedar is why many choose the wood over birch or oak when buying or constructing a sauna. However, because cedar is not the strongest of the woods, it will often be used as paneling on the inside of the sauna or on its doors. Another reason that so many are drawn to cedar saunas is the aesthetic quality they have. People who have saunas in their homes often find that cedar best compliments the rest of the house's furnishings. It is also easy to adorn cedar with engravings or etchings that would give the sauna a distinct appearance. Building Cedar SaunasThere are a number of ways to find high quality cedar saunas at affordable prices. Many manufacturers carry cedar or cedar-paneled products for relatively low costs. However, for many it is much more feasible to do the building themselves. The most dedicated sauna fanatics will use only hand-sawed wood and gathered stones in their construction. For them, cost is not necessarily an issue, but it is more an issue of keeping the tradition of sauna building alive. Cedar sauna kits exist for those who are not as concerned with tradition, but who do want to save money. These kits contain everything that is required to build a sauna, including a ready-to-assemble frame and door. There are also kits for saunas that use cedar along with other types of wood. Assembly time depends on the complexity of the product and, of course, the skill of the assembler. Didn't find what you were looking for?
