Molokai Hawaii Real EstateThe Most Hawaiian IslandOften called "The Friendly Island," Molokai prides itself on its slow pace and spectacular scenery. There are no malls and no fast food sites, so shopping is taken care of in the main town of Kaunakakai, and in the two villages of Kualapuu and Maunaloa. With a population of around 7,200, one main east-west road, and no traffic lights, this island nevertheless boasts a unique history and unique features. The inaccessible peninsula of Kalaupapa is surrounded on three sides by the Pacific Ocean. The fourth side is blocked by 1,600-foot-high cliffs, which, at their highest point along the North Shore, are 2,600 feet, making them the world's highest sea cliffs. A most memorable experience is the mule ride down the cliff-hugging, narrow trail to the peninsula below! Aside from stunning scenery, Kalaupapa is famous as the site of a colony established in 1866 for sufferers of leprosy (Hansen's disease). Molokai Real Estate Is Surprisingly VariedConsidering that this Maui island is only 38 miles long, and 10 miles wide, at its widest point, it offers quite a setting for Molokai real estate. Molokai has the only barrier reef in Hawaii, and the longest white sand beach, Papohaku. Laka, goddess of the hula, created the dance on Molokai, according to legend. The famous, 53,000-acre Molokai Ranch, with its paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy), is a working cattle ranch that also caters to tourists who want to ride the trails. Lodging, rentals, and Molokai real estate are available near the beautiful beaches of the island. From secluded tropical estates to beach front land, Molokai real estate offers a variety of property. Whether you are looking to buy a condo or an island home, Molokai and Maui real estate agents can find property near the luxurious resorts and golf courses, or in a more private setting. Molokai has seven condominium projects for viewing, as well as, land parcels from a few acres to several hundred acres. Any property in Molokai has to be in one of the most beautiful locations of any real estate for sale in Hawaii. ![]() Get all Hawaii Real Estate articles via
