Blundstone shoes have been manufactured and sold since 1870. The company has won a variety of honors and awards including the Design Award from the Industrial Design Council of Australia and the Australian Export Award. The Blundstone tannery still rests on the original site in Hobart, Tasmania that was built by family members in 1830. Blundstone has expanded over the years and now employs nearly 400 people in the shoe-making process.

The SPS technology helps to reduce lower back pain, fatigue, and orthopedic problems with the legs and feet. Blundstone's Shock Protection System has recently been enhanced with Poron, the world's most advanced shock absorbing material.
