Texas Family ReunionsThere are many ideal locations to hold family reunions throughout Texas, especially if you have a Texas-sized family. With plenty of big cities and small, friendly towns--plus a central location--the Lone Star State hosts many family get-togethers where even inn owners treat you like family. The word Texas, in fact, means friendly, and that's what you'll get when you visit. I've been to Texas more than a handful of times, and the memory I always remember most (after all the stars and Texas flags) is how warm the people are. They truly seem friendly and down-to-earth. Texas shares its personality with the South: gracious, hospitable, and outgoing. Bring Your Family for a Reunion You Won't ForgetAnother segment of the population that is very easy to get along with are Bed and Breakfast folks; running small, independently owned inns, they have to be. When you stay at a B & B, you are literally sleeping on their beds and eating their food--it's like staying with family you haven't met yet. Combine the two--a Texas bed and breakfast--and you've got a recipe for a friendly, inviting atmosphere. So bring the whole clan. Many B & Bs are just the right size for an extended family, plus they have all the amenities of a regular hotel (Jacuzzis and VCRs) and a few of their own (historic architecture and furnishings). Want something unique that the family will talk about for years? Some B & Bs are located in turn-of-the-century (and earlier) plantation cottages or on the site of operating cattle ranches. ![]() Get all Texas Travel articles via
