Texas weekend getaways are probably better suited to the small towns of Texas rather than the big three: Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. The Lone Star state has three cities in the nation's top ten, more than any other state; every once in a while, though, you need to get away from the hum of the city and listen to the chirp of the crickets. While most traditional motels are nothing more than beds and TVs in a sterile room, you can lounge around inside a B & B all day long--it's a house, after all. Since many generally have everything you'll need, you can share a private weekend with a loved one without any hassles.

Talk about getting away from it all--many smaller inns provide the seclusion that big-city hotels can't. You can turn off your cell phone and watch the stars from a rustic Texan B & B where the pace slows down enough for you to really enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors. After all, that's what a weekend getaway should be all about.
