Big Island Vacation Deals
Oahu BeachesOahu beaches can be roughly divided into four groups: those on the north, south, east, and west shores. Visitors can pick a general area of interest, as each shore has its own flavor and particular attractions. If you are lucky you will see them all, as well as the interior of this spectacular island. Surfing on Oahu Beaches The South Shore of the island is home to the most famous and popular of Oahu beaches, Waikiki Beach. Waikiki Beach is a great place to for beginning surfing, snorkeling, and scuba diving, and has the advantage of close proximity to Honululu. They are a few other guarded beaches on the South Shore, including Ala Moana Beach, which is popular with families. The East Shore of the Island, known as the windward side of the island, is popular with sailing and windsurfing enthusiasts. Kualoa Park is a popular beach on the East Shore, for it's home to the "Chinaman's Hat," a tiny, rather pointy island that sits just off shore of the beach. The West Shore of the Island is home to the driest beaches on the island with the best fishing spots. As on all of Oahu Beaches, care needs to be taken to preserve your safety and the safety of your children from strong currents. ![]() Get all Hawaii Travel articles via
