Multi-level marketing, or network marketing, sells goods through distributors. Companies pay them a commission for the goods they sell; plus, when they recruit new distributors, they receive commissions for their sales, too. Be careful of multi-level marketing plans, because there are ways to manipulate the system, making them fraudulent. For example, if individuals are paid to recruit distributors it is called pyramiding, which is illegal. For pyramid schemes to work, some people make a lot of money, while others lose that same amount; the many at the bottom of the pyramid support the few at the top.

The beauty of a legal MLM plan is that the seeds you plant early bear fruit later. After you've done the marketing, profits gush (or trickle in), and continue to do so for a long time. And if you get involved in the right market, in the right network of people, you could pull in a tidy income.
