Collectible dolls make gorgeous displays in homes. There are entire museums devoted solely to doll collections. This is more than a pastime for some people. It is a way of life. There are people who travel the world looking for dolls from all different countries. Some collections are worth millions of dollars. Some collections just warm the hearts of the owners. People appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into these dolls.

Some people stick to one particular brand of doll such as Precious Moments, Engel-Puppen, Barbie or American Girl. Other people choose to have an eclectic mix. There are more types of dolls than you could possibly imagine. Some collections only consist of artist dolls. These are one-of-a-kind dolls. Their faces are usually hand painted and the clothes are handmade.

Another kind of collection is cloth dolls. Raggedy Ann and Andy would be examples of this. You can also choose collectible dolls of the miniature kind. If you want to start a doll collection, but you don't have a lot of space, you may wish to choose these dolls. In order to be considered miniature, they must be six inches or less. Some people like to collect ethnic dolls. These are generally dressed in outfits typical to their cultures.

Purchasing Collectible Dolls

Collectible dolls are usually not cheap--therefore, collectors choose carefully. Collections are about getting more over time. If you got a whole bunch of dolls at one time, it wouldn't be as fun as if you spent months or years searching for ones worthy of your collection.
