Accel Spark Plug Wires

by Jeremy Horelick

A lot of people who shop for Accel spark plug wires do so only after they've already damaged their factory-issued set. This is more a result of negligence than anything else, as most non-enthusiasts have limited knowledge when it comes to spark plug wire deterioration. So how exactly do you know when it's time to buy a new set of Accels?

The most obvious warning sign is visible damage to the wires themselves. Anyone who's at home under the hood of a car can identify a worn or frayed wire with little trouble, but most folks only learn of this damage at their quarterly oil changes or inspections. More attuned drivers may notice problems in their cars' idle or acceleration, which are two of the more common tip-offs to spark plug wire issues.

Save Yourself Headaches with Accel Spark Plug Wires

One of the simplest ways to save yourself unnecessary grief and costly repairs is to invest in a quality set of Accel wires. What exactly is it that separates a great wire from a run-of-the-mill variety? One factor is the extent of the shielding provided by the wire, a buffer against electromagnetic interference (EMI). An improperly coated wire can cause radio frequency interference with other electrical components of your automobile.

You'll also want to look for MAG core wires instead of standard wires, which can lessen your chance of misfires. Remember, your car's performance is tied directly to the efficiency of its engine, which in turn is linked to the timing of your spark plug. You may have a top-of-the-line plug, but absent a strong set of wires, this is of little consequence.
